There are several tall Rose of Sharon bushes growing next to my driveway. They were planted decades ago by my grandmother, Stella Westerfield, when she and my grandfather, John Westerfield, still lived here. After grandma passed away, my son bought the house for us to live in.
All summer long, the Rose of Sharons are covered in beautiful flowers. We have several bushes that produce pink flowers and a couple that have white flowers. The Polaroid film's high contrast and relatively weak green sensitivity make the thick green foliage behind the flowers drop off to a very dark, nearly black tone that makes each flower look like an oasis of color in a sea of darkness.
